A call for proposals for education and public awareness projects was launched in July 2007 with the CHM (Clearing House Mechanism) focal points of Belgium's partner countries with a view to strengthening the activities of the National Focal Points for the Clearinghouse in their support for the implementation of the CBD (Convention on Biological Diversity).
The Bugesera District School Environmental Awareness and Education Project has been selected for Rwanda with its following activities:
- Teacher training on environmental education
- radio broadcast
- Organization of competitions and awards ceremony
The Project ended in June 2008 and has greatly contributed to the education of children and their teachers on environmental protection.
