The remnant terrestrial ecosystems are considered as natural habitats with rich biodiversity (flora and fauna) and their extinction would result in loss of threatened species or species in extinction and the associated effects would be an imbalance of ecological functions. In Rwanda, the remnant terrestrial ecosystems are scattered across the country. Nevertheless, they are given less importance in conservation effort, given that they are located outside protected areas and some of them are less known.
